A former monastery turned into a hotel. The area is great with the sounds of birds and tranquil coast. There are rooms are decent and have a balcony looking at the coast. The staff are friendly and speak Italian, German and some English. Service can be slow during dinner, especially when everyone is eating at the same time. So be patient and mindful.
I’d rate this resort at 3.5 stars. It has everything you need but all rooms and facilities are quite old and outdated. The beach is nice but the entrance is quite rocky and there was grass in the water in August. The food is varied so halfboard makes sense. The sunsets are beautiful!
We stayed at Adria Ankaran in July 2025 in two so-called “premium” mobile homes, but the experience was far from what was advertised. Here’s what you should know before booking: The mobile homes are crammed together with almost no outdoor space, no privacy, and no sense of comfort. There’s nothing “premium” about them. The resort directly faces the industrial port of Koper. Massive cargo ships pass by all day, completely ruining the seaside atmosphere. This is not the idyllic coastal location the website suggests. The baby/toddler pool was empty and unusable, even though it was one of the key reasons we chose this resort for our small children. The general environment felt more like a crowded budget campsite than a peaceful, well-equipped family resort. There was no calm, no greenery, and no infrastructure for parents with small kids apart from the crowded restaurant. When we asked to speak to someone from management regarding these issues, we were told no one was available. Completely unacceptable. Eventually, after repeated requests, we were granted permission to leave early without penalty, and we appreciate that the front office manager (Blaž) handled that part of the process professionally. Bottom line: Don’t be fooled by the polished photos (they cut off the huge industrial port). This is not a premium resort. If you're looking for peace, nature, and comfort: look elsewhere.
