Hotel Convento D'Alter by Asite Hotels

If you want something more modern, go somewhere else. If you want speedy service, don't come to the Alentejo. If you want to experience Portugal at its best then this is the perfect starting point. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the central location is excellent, and Alter do Chão is a fascinating town with plenty of history, lots to see and great restaurants offering generous portions at very reasonable prices. After having lived more than thirty years in Portugal, this hotel, in such a beautiful setting, is absolutely one of my favourites.

Nice hotel but needs for refurbishment to be more modern. Staff very friendly and helpful but bar service needs to be quicker. Great location, breakfast in good quantity and very good products.

The hotel was very nice . Once arrived to receptionist was a bit wary we had a double bed and asked a colleague about it. Luckily the bloke was more settle by saying was a double bed. Havent she seen gay people yet?! We pay for a room and not for being scutrinized. She needs training. Other then that room 114 was nice fridge didn't work but after contacting reception was all sorted . Pool area nice but they need more umbrellas. Breakfast was a bit disappointing. Staff kept hiding. Water said was hot wasn't Kettle didn't have water. Overall not great breakfast. Very pretty inside but need better service in general and better breakfast. A tension to detail it's simply not there. Curtain in the bedroom needs replacement too. While there someone turn up for an audit to health and safety but no representative on site which is a bit of concern.
