Hotel Cristal Setúbal

Clean, modern hotel with pleasant vibe and amazing staff. Great access to city centre and ferry for trips to Troia beach. Special mention to Louis on the front desk who provided excellent information and service.

Lovely design of bedrooms; clean and modern with plenty of storage space. Bathroom isn’t well designed; door almost hits sink as you enter. You have to kind of climb out of shower / bath in an awkward way because of the size and design of shower glass and how it opens. Wasn’t great sound proofing. Pretty poor dryer - very old fashioned and not very powerful. Only tiny boxes of water provided but there was a kettle in the room to make tea which was appreciated. Breakfast was good enough. Coffee wasn’t great. Service was good but lacked warmth and friendliness. Hotel Manager did kindly help me with train information. Hotel is located quite far from the main town and in a residential area so if you’re a tourist, consider this is choosing where you stay. There is a small, adequate gym onsite also for basic weight lifting routine.

The room was not fit for purpose so they offered me another but I needed to wait a few days. Twice they changed the room I was suppose to see but I waited. However, when it came to viewing the room finally they informed me the hotel was full. In short, they offer another a room option which is really no option because they are always full. These nitwits seem to believe that if they made the offer to find me another room they would be doing there job, knowing full well there would never be a room for me. It's the Twilight zone! F ing mad. You canot make this up. Stay away!
