Hotel D Basel Boutique Hotel

Just had the loveliest stay at Hotel D. I found the hotel to be the perfect location, quiet enough but near to all the essential Basel sites. The room was clean and spacious, the lobby is welcoming and stylish, the breakfast was diverse and delicious, but what was most moving was the staff. The staff were so incredibly accommodating to my family, including our toddler. They went above and beyond to make both us and her comfortable. Would absolutely stay here again.

Hotel D in Basel is a cosy and modern boutique hotel that combines stylish design with comfort. Recently renovated, it offers clean, well-maintained rooms with a contemporary feel, making it a solid choice for both business and leisure travellers. The location is excellent—close to the city centre and within walking distance of Basel’s main attractions, shops, and restaurants. Public transport is a major plus: guests receive a free mobility pass that allows unlimited travel on trams and buses throughout the city, making it easy to get around without a car. While the hotel doesn’t have its own parking, there are several nearby options that are convenient and easy to use, albeit not cheap. Our room was clean but rather small, which might be a consideration for longer stays or travellers with more luggage. A downside was that it faced a nearby building site, leading to noticeable noise during the day—particularly early in the morning. The staff were welcoming, attentive, and helpful throughout our stay, adding to the hotel’s overall pleasant atmosphere. In summary, Hotel D offers a modern, centrally located stay with good service and public transport access, though noise from nearby construction may be an issue in some rooms.

We recently stayed at Hotel D ("D" is for Diana) in Basel ahead of a Viking Cruise from Basel to Amsterdam. The location is perfect - a short Tram ride from Basel Station. You'll be in walking distance to Old Town, the Rhine, many shops, restaurants and the University Hospital. We requested early check in and the staff was able to accommodate so we could shake off the 6H time change on arrival. The lobby is comfortable and tasteful. There's even an innovative cocktail cart that invites guest to make a mixed drink or partake in fruit flavored water. Our room was clean and comfortable. A wet bath make great use of space for a full bathroom and water pressure was amazing! Americans, don't forget your adapters as there were no USB/USB-C charging ports. We used the workout room but didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that. If you like boutique hotels, Hotel D is a fantastic option and it was the only thing we paid for in Basel that wasn't relatively overpriced. Highly recommend.
