Okay, so it's not a 4 star hotel, but it does deserve 5 stars. My sister and I loved staying there. The staff was outstanding--friendly and helpful with my many questions. The hotel itself is charming and lovely. It's situated in a great place in relation to downtown shops and amenities. It was also quiet and a great value. We were looking for a comfortable place, with helpful staff, where we could launch our exploration of Merida and the surrounding area, and Hotel Gobernador was just that.
This hotel has a great location close to the town square. This means that you are close to shopping, restaurants and historical buildings, all in walking distance from the hotel. We were here 2 nights and found this hotel fine. The rooms are nice, average equipped, with good beds and the service is good. The breakfast is American style with a few extra things. I really recommend this hotel for its location
Worst Hotel on our Yucatan Tour. Absolutely not recommendable for families. In the morning - we had a voucher (as we had a room) and we were not allowed (!!!) with a little kid to sit inside for the breakfast as we were told everything is reserved - by Delma. I made a video: 40 free spaces. We were discriminated against and they wanted us to go outside. We refused to sit in the heat. We had a room in the hotel and a voucher for the breakfast. Absolutely not recommendable. So you travel and like the city and in the morning they do not allow you to sit inside but outside in the heat. Never again this hotel, not recommendable for families. You should educate your employees - with a little common sense such a situation is solved easily. When we left after breakfast (we refused to sit in the heat with our little kid) - still 20 free seats. There are plenty good hotels around btw. Unfortunately, the reply here only reinforces what should never happen at a true 4-star hotel. The issue is not whether “everything was reserved” — it’s about proper planning and guest experience, especially when families with small children are involved. A genuine 4-star hotel does not send guests with a small kid out into the blazing heat while dozens of tables remain visibly empty. That’s not hospitality — that’s poor judgment. Offering us a different breakfast as some sort of consolation only highlights the lack of understanding for basic guest comfort. Also, a word of advice: if you claim to be “one of the best 4-star hotels,” you may want to check your standing — ranked 59 out of 160 hotels in Mérida on TripAdvisor puts you solidly in the lower half. Real hospitality is about flexibility, empathy, and foresight. Your reply, however, sounds like a copy-paste template. Truly disappointing.
