Stayed with family and overall had a pleasant experience. The room was clean, and the bed very comfortable. A big plus was the separate room for the kids – great for families needing a bit of space. Location wise it’s very convenient with restaurants and grocery store nearby. However, there were a few downsides: noise from the upper floor and the road was noticeable at night. Also surprising for a 4-star hotel, there were no complimentary tea or coffee facilities in the room – it’s available, but at an extra €3 charge. Good for a short stay, especially with children, but could improve on basic comforts and soundproofing.
I wasn’t particularly happy with my stay at Hotel Delfino in Mestre. The signs and appearance of the car park give the impression of a much grander hotel than what you actually find. The real entrance is hidden under a portico, and the reception area feels more like a shop than a hotel lobby. The building seems to have around eight floors, but for some strange reason, the floor numbering starts from 10. So if you’re given a room on floor 14, it sounds impressive—like you're in a Manhattan skyscraper—but in reality, you’re just on the fourth floor. The room numbering system is also unnecessarily complicated, with four-digit numbers that serve no purpose except to make it harder to remember where you’re staying. The rooms are not terrible, but they are slightly outdated, with shutters that don’t work properly and curtains that don’t close fully—and probably need a good wash. The air conditioning and heating weren’t working in my room, which made for a very uncomfortable night. I had to sleep with the window open, which meant dealing with road noise, mosquitoes, and the unpleasant experience of trying to fall asleep fanning myself with a piece of paper. I’m honestly tired of asking about room temperature in Italian hotels, because the usual response is that “it’s not hot” or “not cold,” and I wish they would just let guests decide for themselves. Everyone’s different. The bathroom was a bit dated, with some broken fixtures and the usual stray body hair on the floor from previous guests. Strangely, there was no hand soap—just two unlabelled bottles that might have been shampoo or lotion, but I couldn’t tell. The corridors were at least clean, and that’s probably the nicest thing I can say about the building. The location isn’t great if you’re aiming for Venice—it’s about a 10–15 minute walk to the train station. But if you need access to shops and supermarkets, the area is full of them, right along a busy main road. On the positive side, the staff was kind and professional, and the breakfast was average, nothing memorable but not bad either. In conclusion, the hotel gave me the feeling of a place that over-promises and under-delivers, with uncomfortable conditions and a lack of attention to some basic comforts. Not the worst hotel out there, but I wouldn’t choose it again.
It’s very disappointing that you book a 4 star hotel and encounter a hotel that should be classified as 2 or 3 stars. We are two people and the hotel only gives you a key card. If you want another you have to leave caution. The rooms have no air conditioning but an air system controlled by the hotel. It was 25 degrees in the room and you could not control your room temperature (not at all from a 4star hotel). There are no courtesy water in the room, neither a glass. No kettle, no courtesy coffee or tea or mini bar. Be prepared to bring your own water. Internet is extremely unreliable and slow. Very basic service for a 4 star hotel.
