Genuinely excellent stay. It was beautiful, spotlessly clean, the pool was excellent, the beds were comfy, the food in the restaurant was incredible and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The wi-fi is quite weak, but everything else about the hotel was amazing. Right next to a small mall and a tram stop. Definitely going to stay again.
There was alot of police staying in the hotel and were very loud late at night in the room next to us and in other rooms aswell having what sounded like a party. Also when the police were leaving every morning at approximately 6 am they used to put on the sirens on their vehicles and were completely inconsiderate to other people staying in the hotel. The hotel itself was very nice and some of the staff were very nice. To be honest I probably would recommend this hotel for a stay if the police were not there. If you arrive and the police are there I'd recommend to go elsewhere.
I can start with the following assessment — this hotel is just weird. I will start with the positive experience. The hotel is nearby the city of Katowice, and it's easy to get transport to and from the hotel. The hotel is clean, neat and there is no other filth like bad smell. But there are problems, some really big ones. First problem is the interior of the hotel rooms. The whole concept of the hotel is the "old style" of furniture and design. Unfortunately that includes the ergonomics of the bed, which is more built for a medieval peasant than for the modern society. It had one of the thinnest mattresses I have ever slept on and with only one small pillow. If you didn't have a bad back before coming to this hotel you are guaranteed to have it after a couple of days of stay. The walls are also paper thin. If your neighbor is having a conversation with his wife or in my case a room party at 04:00 in the morning you will experience the sound like you are in the same room. You will basically hear everything that is happening around you, so be prepared — unfortunately I was not prepared. The cleaning lady will knock on your door 09:30 in the morning, even on Saturdays. I know it was my fault for not putting the Do Not Disturb- sign up. But it has never happened to me on all other hotels that the cleaning will start so early in the morning, and that they will forcefully knock on the door, so you feel like you are in the military or a landless serf who needs to go out to the field to work. So after you had a couple of hours of bad sleep you can visit the hotels' spa, bath and sauna facilities. They are surprisingly good for the size of the hotel, but like everything with this hotel there is a catch. The facility is also open for everybody and not only hotel guests, which makes your experience like a visit to the public bathhouse. The saunas and jacuzzi are always full of people and there are swimmers doing laps in the small pool. The tiny changing room were full of men and women. Good thing you can at least walk to your hotel room in your wet swimming trousers to change and shower. The breakfast is really basic, but it achieves its purpose, mostly. First morning the apple juice was depleted for the rest of the visit. The last day the elder flower was also depleted. There was something off with the coffee, it had this strange taste that if you had this coming out of the coffee machine at work you would put in a call for service. The staff at the breakfast who obviously did not care to refill the juices walked up and down the tables like a guard doing street patrols. Sometimes looking at you intimidating for no reason other than they wanting you gone so they can close the breakfast early or something. So, to summarize, this was not a good hotel experience for me or my friends. One of my friends even got an angry call to his hotel room that he needed to check out immediately. The problem is that he was booked for 3 more nights — A "simple" mistake from the staff was the reason. I did not get robbed during my visit or bring home any lice, so I give the hotel two stars.
