Hotel Dorottya

We spent 12 days in Hungary and 5 of those nights at Hotel Dorottya in Kaposvar. The rooms and service were outstanding. We felt very safe and comfortable. They also offer a fantastic breakfast as well as a very tasty bistro. We will definitely be staying here again when we return!

I stayed here overnight as I was visiting a company nearby. Check in was nice and staff were friendly and spoke good English. The building is very elegant and has some interesting architecture. My room was quite big and relatively well equipped. WiFi was adequate. The bed was comfy enough and good hot water and pressure in the shower. Some minor complaints: my air conditioning didn't work at all - the unit would not turn on and opening the windows was very noisy at night. The bathroom smelled faintly of smoke and some aspects of the room could do with a bit of TLC. Overall though, it was a good price for the room.

Always liked that hotel. One of the few real ones in the whole area. However, and that's a growing "however", it starts to feel tired. And now the restaurant - which in the past was really worth going to - has been closed. In a way the hotel reflects the rest of Kaposvar, which as a town is not necessarily on the way up.
