Amazing! The roll top bath, the shower, the toiletries, the bed and pillows, all fantastic! We booked a standard room and appreciated the king-size bed and the huge bathroom. The staff were delightful. Food was excellent, particularly the breakfast. Having stayed at hotels all over the world, this rates among the very best. Loved the French atmosphere and character of the building, which reminded me of Montreal's Old Port. Even my nine year old daughter was a fan.
From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Everyone—from the front desk team to housekeeping—was genuinely friendly, professional, and eager to help. They anticipated our needs before we even asked and were always happy to offer recommendations or assist with anything we needed. It’s rare to find such consistently outstanding service across the board. Their warmth and attention to detail truly made our stay exceptional. Can’t recommend this place highly enough—thank you to the incredible team!
Disappointing experience here. Expected more, having stayed at the same chain in Glasgow. Our room, a suite, had a spacious interior, but was dark, with little natural light. There's currently scaffolding going round parts of the hotel which includes the suites, which diminishes the light there is. Thankfully we weren't staying on a weekday as you'd likely have builders working outside your window! We ( and another guest who was complaining) were not told in advance of building works, scaffolding and no attempt was made to offer any form of compensation, no matter how small. Paying a premium price for a suite made this even more annoying. The room did have an air con unit, but for some reason kept reverting to 19 degrees whenever set lower. Toilet downstairs door could do with some hooks to hang your toweling robes ( which are included). On the positives, the bathroom upstairs was nice and had a standing bath too. Water pressure good, so showers were good. The restaurant proved a better experience. We both enjoyed our meal and the service was good. Bar was just average however and oddly shuts at 11pm. For a 'luxury' city centre hotel, I'd really have expected a later closing time. There are a few limited car parking slots which you must reserve in advance. It's pricey though at £25 a night, so factor this into the cost of your stay if you really need to park on site. All in all, for the price we paid, we were expecting a luxury experience, but alas, didn't get it. I understand hotels have to get maintained, but they should either warn guests in advance or provide compensation . Hotel Du Vin I'm afraid, did neither.
