Really beautiful hotel. We stayed here for just one night for our wedding anniversary - one of the nicest rooms we have ever stayed in. Really spacious, comfortable and clean as well as great décor. The en-suite bathroom too was magnificent, which seems a strange word to describe a bathroom, but it's the best one I can think of. Twin sinks, huge window to let in loads of light and fresh air, and the shower was hot and powerful and very tall! The staff were all very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The hotel is in a great location, just 10 mins walk to get into the center of York. Parking was available at the back of the hotel for £15 per night, which we felt was reasonable. We also ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel's restaurant. Really delicious food, but quite pricey and portions were slightly on the small side (we had to order extra chips with the main course, despite both having starters too). As it was for a special occasion though it wasn't a big deal for us. Thanks for a lovely stay - I expect we will be returning :)
Highly recommended. Simple check in, very pleasant receptionist. Dropped our bags and went out and when we returned they were in our room. Good location, 15 minute walk to the centre, Uber operates here so cheap taxis are available via the Uber app. The room was also nice and quiet for a city location. There is a car park at the rear (£15/day). The only negative is they don’t answer their phone, press one for…. press two for….. then you get another menu press one for…… we gave up!
Wonderful little hotel. They really treated me well. My only criticisms of it were that the bar was very expensive (even for York standards), the ridiculous room names made it difficult to state what room you're in when ordering anything, and the bath was so tall that it made taking a shower a bit of a mountain climb. This is real nitpicking though. Other than that, the staff were incredible, the room delightful and the breakfast was delicious. I stay in York on business regularly and have tried a number of the top end hotels there, and this is my new favourite.
