I do NOT recommend this hotel. This hotel probably had its glory in the 1980s and 1990s. What is left today is a worn down hotel with the same owner, now in his late 70s/early 80s. The out-of-style hotel I can accept, as things are clean and tidy, but the owner is the problem. He is a grumpy old man. The concept of hospitality is long lost with this man. You get the feeling that you visiting him in his home and have to follow his rules. In any other hotel the front desk would do their best to accommodate your needs and wants, but all you get here is a NO. When checking out, and we were leaving early for the airport, he had to sit down with receipts from 4 days and calculate everything manually. After 20 minutes (!) he presented a hand-written receipt that was barely legible. His calculations were wrong, so do make sure you have time to check the receipt. We opted for the half-pension and had dinner in the hotel. The waiters are the sweetest and they served a bottle of wine with every meal. The only problem is that the owner made sure we got an expensive bottle of wine (€32). When confronted with this at check-out, his only answer was (in poor English): you are from Norway – you can afford it. The village is super charming and quiet, the people working in the hotel are nice, but the outdated hotel and owner ruins the experience. Do NOT choose this place.
The hotel should have 1 star dropped due to the hospitality of the owner/manager and receptionist. Very unfortunate experience. I would suggest that if they cannot be nice or helpful to the patrons, to move on from the hospitality industry... - asking for directions for the area seemed annoying to them. - for early departures, less than 1/2h before breakfast time started, we couldn’t even have a fruit or water to go.(noting that breakfast was paid for) - general attitude not welcoming to stay or come back. However, lovely ladies working in the hotel. Super helpful, kind and nice. Rooms were fine, spacious, clean.
