Hotel España Ocean Drive

Lovely hotel with awesome location. We found the staff always very helpful and polite. The rooftop terrace area was lovely in the afternoon and some great cocktails. The rooms are clean and nice comfortable beds. Would absolutely stay there again.

The whole staff was incredibly kind and helpful. The service was great, and the drinks on the rooftop were soft and really tasty. The place has such a warm vibe — super close to the heart and right in the middle of the city. The neighborhood reminded me so much of Damascus. I definitely recommend this place!

We stayed at this hotel because it was recommended by American Express which normally has great options. The hotel itself is nice with beautiful decor and very friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant was fantastic for breakfast. Good buffet with many options and really good cooked options too. The reason for the lower star ratings is that as soon as we checked in to our room it was warm. The staff played with the controls and assured me it would be cold in a few hours however it would not get cold. This is a thing all over Europe where it’s a cultural thing to be comfortable at what I, as an American, consider too hot. For reference the ac was set to 19 but it was easily 23 in there. I could not sleep and at 5am requested help but technician wasn’t available until the daytime. Once the tech came then it was cold. The other negative is the location. It’s about two blocks from La Rambla which in itself is a good location to shop, eat and walk however those two blocks are sketchy with homeless people sleeping and at night we were told pickpockets could be in the area. I would not stay at this hotel again but the staff friendliness, restaurant and decor deserve notice.
