Hotel Excelsior

I find the car park system at Hotel Excelsior to be quite unfriendly for guests. Although one complimentary parking space is provided for hotel guests, every time I enter or exit, I am stopped by security and questioned whether I am actually staying at the hotel. The reception did provide a parking coupon, but there were no clear instructions stating that it must be displayed on the car dashboard for security verification. As a result, security even asked me to pay RM6 for parking, which was frustrating. For a 4-star hotel, it’s surprising that there’s no modern cashless parking system in place. The current arrangement feels outdated and inconvenient, and definitely needs improvement to match the standards expected from a hotel of this level.

Aged hotel that is well maintained, room is clean. However, the security is of some concern. 1. The access card is able to access all floors, not just the floor your room is on and common areas. I witnessed card sharing in the lift where a group had used just one card to access multiple floors (rooms not common areas) 2. This other concern is more serious. During the stay, the access card stopped working and we had to go to the reception to have it reset. Instead of asking us for our room number for verification, the receptionist promptly reset it card and announced to us the room number. If it was a lost card and someone else brought it to the counter and have it reset, the person will have easy full access to our rooms and belongings Please improve on this. Other than these 2 items, the stay was good and comfortable

Reached the hotel at 14:11. Approached the counter and was told they could only process check-in at 15:00. There being no other guests but we had to wait. Will update about the room and location later. Location was great. Plenty of food options. Walking distance to Ipoh Parade shopping mall. There are a few massage options next to the hotel. Prices were reasonable.
