Hotel Excelsior San Marco

I absolutely love this hotel! They are updating and we got a room that had not been renovated but it was still nice, the bed was comfortable, and everything was clean. The staff were kind and helpful and the breakfast every morning was wonderful. The location is great and close to everything. We walked or used a scooter everywhere. We also had a wonderful view of Città Alta from our room. I would absolutely stay here again.

The location is great, the hotel itself is pretty old. I don’t know about the refurbished rooms because when I was there in May 2025 we got an old room. The breakfast was good, the staff is nice and polite, the only complaints are the door in the room which is connected to the other room, because I heard my neighbor’s music at 05:30 in the morning and the other one is the windows, you can hear everything from the street, try closing the windows rolling blinds at night, maybe it helps. I have to give credit for the fact that I got slippers and a balcony with chairs. If I come back I will ask and insist for a renovated room as I see people do that.

Very well located, close to the city center and the old town. The rooms are very old and I didn’t feel comfortable at all. Also, I really dislike having to leave the key room in reception which they make sure you do by giving you the heaviest key ever, so you won’t even want to carry it around. I wouldn’t come back unless they restructure it.
