Hotel Fasano Rio de Janeiro

My husband and I stayed at the Fasano to celebrate our anniversary. For our first time in Rio, this hotel was magical. Everyone on the Fasano staff went above and beyond, especially Luisa at the front desk! Breakfast was delicious and the views from the rooftop pool are unmatched. They offer a beach service as well where they provide chairs, towels, and cold water as you lounge on Ipanema. The room was clean and comfortable. We especially enjoyed the Nespresso machine in the room. We also loved looking at the autographs of the many celebrities who have stayed at Fasano! I highly recommend this haven in the perfect location for exploring Rio!

I had a wonderful experience at Fasano, especially due to the excellent staff such as Marcus, who helped tailor my time around local experiences. The rooms were very cozy and well decorated, and I had an amazing view of the beach. I can’t wait to go back !

Unfortunately, this hotel did not meet expectations and feels significantly overrated for a five-star property and hotel that was awarded the hotel of the year for the region. While the staff was generally attentive, several aspects fell short. Upon arrival, the lobby had a noticeable mildew odor that was quite off-putting. The bedroom also had noticeable wear and tear, like peeling wall paper, and the gym facilities are limited and feel cramped, lacking the space and amenities one would expect at this level. The rooftop does offer a lovely view of Ipanema and the surrounding mountains, but the pool area appears significantly worn and in need of maintenance. Additionally, arranging transportation to the airport was unnecessarily frustrating. Despite confirming the details twice, the quoted price inexplicably doubled for two people with three large bags, with no clear explanation. Overall, while there were some positives, like being able to extend a late checkout, the experience didn’t reflect five-star standards, and I wouldn’t choose to stay here again for my next trip to RJ.
