I’ve just got back from a 2 day stay at Hotel Football. Few came down for soccer aid which was at old Trafford. My husband and son are huge United fans so as a birthday / Father’s Day surprised I booked hotel football. The staff were incredible, especially the reception girls that made sure we were so well looked after we felt like vips! The rooms were clean and we had the birthday package which i recommend! Very cute gifts. The breakfast was delicious so def add that to the stay. I recommend the squad room with stadium view. Also the staff in the breakfast room were so so lovely! My son spent most of his time playing football at the pitch in ‘Heaven’ make sure you visit! We will most definitely be back as the stay was exceptional. Even on event day.. the hotel was really well managed. We also got to meet Ryan Giggs when we checked out which made my husbands dreams come true!

It's all about the location with this hotel. You could crawl to The Stretford End in 2 minutes. Very friendly check in staff. There's a decent bar and lounge area on one side and a large restaurant area on the other side. The latter doubles as the breakfast area in the morning. Hot orders are taken at the table whereas cereals and yogurts and toast, tea, coffee and juices are within walking distance. View over a canal makes a change. Not massively impressed with the room. Air con didn't properly function, which is a problem if you can't open the windows. But the hotel has interesting features like football card wall paper and plays on football memorabilia.

Brilliant location and decent rooms, my kids particularly enjoyed playing football on the rooftop pitch. However something that lets this hotel down is the service in cafe football. We sat down to a pre booked table at half 5 with a young family and being early the restaurant wasn’t busy, however after 20 minutes I had to chase a waiter to order food. He took my order without a notepad and of course completely forgot our drinks, so the food came very quickly which was good, but no drinks. Another 10 minutes I chased up another waiter and they brought our drinks and fair play to them they didn’t charge for these as it had taken so long. I then again had to chase for a bill, and unfortunately but it was only right I asked for the service to be removed. Honestly if it was busy I could have let it slide, but it wasn’t busy in fact I would say there were almost as many staff as their were punters, so in my opinion the service needs to improve! This wouldn’t put me off from staying at the hotel, but I won’t be eating here again.
