Hotel Galidon Thermal & Wellness Park

ideal for a holiday in October. Nice room, pleasant green area, excellent thermal pool. breakfast is good. There are some delicious restaurants nearby for dinner. The bus stop is right next to the entrance, you can explore the whole island. we enjoyed our stay

It’s a pity that this hotel doesn’t fulfil its whole potential and it’s a lot of tiny details that could be easily improved that would make it much much better. The hotel is situated in very lovely surroundings with a big garden, many thermal pools (6?), both sea view and mountain view. However the service (especially in the restaurant) makes this a worse 3star hotel, definitely not 4. We expected the rooms to be more “traditional” according to the pictures, which was fine even though we got the room where there was almost no sunlight or any view (we didn’t mind much as we only slept there). The pool bar was also fine, you could fill up the bottles with water at any time on your own. However, the restaurant had a terrible service. Same breakfast every morning (with very few options to choose from), the dinner was different every night and some of the courses were even a bit tasty. But I don’t think that a 4* hotel (or any other hotel?) should serve instant mashed potatoes from the bag. I also witnessed that the leftover wine was took from multiple tables and poured into one carafe and served again, the cutlery that the waiter accidentally dropped was put again as clean on the table, etc. Breakfast should had started at 8:00 but at 8:10 the restaurant was still closed. There were missing plates and glasses during the breakfast. So many little details that ruined the restaurant experience… As for the further surroundings: The beach is like 700m to 1km away, you can walk either through the other hotel and then it’s shorter but steeper, or walk by the road and then it’s longer. There’s also an option to use a hotel bus to get to the beach or to Forio (times are written at the reception). The bus stop for regular transport around the island is right in front of the hotel. The times of departure are not uphold so just wait on the side of the road (depending which direction you need to go) and get on the first bus that arrives. The tickets can be bought at the reception. If you’re up for it I would recommend renting a scooter, which is also easy to park in the hotel. To sum up, the hotel considering garden, pools, position was great and very calm and relaxing. The service in the hotel was lacking some common sense.

Wrong room when I arrived. Food acceptable, portions seem to depend on sympathy by the personal as well as removing empty plates as well as serving the next course. Room cleaning quite nice but lacks of preciseness. Friendliness and getting the feeling you are not just annoying on reception depending on who you are dealing with. Edit: got a different and very funny waiter at the end of the stay who increased the rating from one to three stars. It really seems to depend on who you are dealing with.
