Hotel GHT Marítim

Place is very loud, there is live music almost every night, right under the hotel bar. Lift is not useable most of the time, since it does not stop on the actual floor. Some people waited 15(!) minutes just to get down from the 7th floor Food was not that great either, taste was missing. Not much variety either. Some positive to mention, the room was quiet nice and clean. Staff was friendly (but checkin took an hour!) View from roof pool is also nice

I recently stayed at this hotel, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. The food was disappointing; it lacked flavor, was served cold, and clearly not freshly prepared. The dining area was also unclean, with dirty plates that guests had to search for, even though they were supposedly "washed" from the kitchen. The reception staff and waiters were unfriendly, which made interactions uncomfortable. On a positive note, the housekeeping staff were friendly and did their best, but overall cleanliness was lacking throughout the hotel. The hotel manager's demeanor was particularly off-putting, as she seemed uninterested and unwelcoming. Additionally, I noticed cleanliness issues in various areas, including the balcony, spa, bar, lobby, pool, and elevators. As for the room, it was poorly arranged, with the washbasin awkwardly placed in the hallway. The ceilings had stains, and there were cobwebs present. The curtains were also in disarray. Overall, this is advertised as a four-star hotel, but I believe it deserves only one star based on my experience. The price-performance ratio was catastrophic.

Avoid this place at all costs. I don’t usually leave reviews, but GHT Hotel Maritim in Calella deserves every word of warning I can give. From the moment I arrived, I felt like a burden for speaking English. The hotel claims to be English-speaking, but I was constantly looked down on and even laughed at by staff who couldn’t understand me—and then mocked me for it. It’s one thing to struggle with a language, it’s another to humiliate your guests for trying to communicate. The food? Imagine a school cafeteria where no one wants to be. Miserable atmosphere, joyless staff, and food that makes airplane meals seem gourmet. There’s no bar open at night. If you want a drink, you’re forced to wander over to the “parent hotel” bar next door, which is equally uninspiring. Now for the worst part. In the early hours of June 20th, I was spiked in the city centre. I managed to make it back to the hotel and collapsed on the bed, extremely unwell. I vomited on the sheets—a scary, medical emergency. To his credit, the night receptionist (the only kind person I encountered here) called an ambulance. The next day, instead of checking if I was okay, I was summoned to reception and scolded like a child over the soiled bedding. I was told I had to pay 55 Euros for “damage” – despite it being due to an uncontrollable, emergency medical situation. When I asked to see the policy that justified this, they said there wasn’t one – but they’d make one up. One of the managers even snapped at me, saying, “You’re not in England, you’re in Spain,” as if I wasn’t fully aware I was on holiday. Rude, condescending, and utterly unprofessional. From that moment on, I was treated with visible disgust for the rest of my stay. No empathy, no customer service, just cold stares and judgment. To make matters worse, no one came to clean our room for the remainder of the trip after the emergency incident. It felt like we were completely written off as guests the second we raised a valid concern. Abysmal hotel. I love Calella and will happily return to the area – but never, ever to this disgrace of a hotel. I’ll be warning everyone I can to steer far clear of GHT Hotel Maritim.
