Hotel Girassol Suite Hotel

A great hotel in a good location. The restaurant is excellent, great food and friendly service. It has 2 nice pool areas, with a pool bar doing all day drinks and hot food at lunchtime. Our hotel suite was excellent, spacious and comfortable. We had a bedroom, bathroom, and a lounge area with a TV. We also had a balcony. There is a bar on the 1st floor, serving drinks from 5pm with an outdoor seating area. This is a great hotel and very well priced for all inclusive.

Booked this hotel for a 4 night stay with my mother for her birthday. (I’m 24 she’s 58). I’m also a manager in a large hotel back home in Scotland so this is my view. Arrived to be told our room originally booked wasn’t available so they gave us the all inclusive option as compensation (originally just B&B). I do see in other reviews that this happens often, however our room we were given was absolutely lovely. A twin room on the 2nd floor in what I assume was the older part of the building, but the room was spotless, with comfy beds and a nice balcony with a sea view. The room was more than adequate so the all inclusive upgrade was a blessing actually! The breakfast firstly is very good, large buffet area with plenty seating and everything replenished often. Lunch is also a buffet and served by the pool area which has different options everyday, always a meat and a fish option with plenty sides and different salads. Desserts at lunch were also excellent and 2 ice cream flavours which have been different every day. Cannot comment on dinner unfortunately as we have not ate in the hotel any nights. Pool area also lovely, never once had a fight for sun loungers at all, and pool bar with all inclusive drinks very decent. Of course the cocktails are not mixologist standard but more a pre-mix. I tried basically all of them and all refreshing. Staff have also been excellent, Elizabete from the reception and the new receptionist lady Micas who checked us in. A special shout out to Lisa from the pool bar who goes absolutely above and beyond for guests, always checking up and offering extra drinks and will deliver right to your lounger. An absolute asset to this hotel!! The bar man also brought us a bottle of Madeiran wine complimentary as a birthday gift for my mum. We have not tried the adults only pool as even though there are children here, the pool area is still lovely and relaxing and not too crowded that we felt the need to go up there. The gardens and grounds surrounding the pool areas are very well kept and lush. Truly an absolutely fantastic stay here and do not understand a single bad review. Sure, this is not a 5 star ultra-luxury all inclusive, but if you did your research you would know that. A good solid hotel for a lovely holiday. We spent a great week here. We had a spacious room with a balcony, living room, and bedroom, and even a small refrigerator. There's a nice bar with occasional live music, a large pool area, two book corners, and the breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke good english. There are parking lots next to the hotel, but unfortunately they were often occupied in the evening. The hotel is within walking distance of the ocean, a large supermarket, and many restaurants. Funchal's city center can be reached on foot in about 25 minutes. The street in front of the hotel is very busy, so it can get a bit noisy on the hotel terrace and in front of the hotel. However, you don't notice the noise in the hotel itself. In any case, we were very satisfied with the value for money
