Hotel Gnollhof

My partner and I absolutely loved our stay here! We had a mountain view room and the view was absolutely spectacular! The food was excellent and we loved the spa area and the pool. There is lots of space in the public areas so it always felt quiet and private. Couldn't recommend more for a relaxing break away!

We stayed at Gnollhof in July 2024 and opted for a mountain-view room, which was absolutely stunning in every aspect. The breathtaking scenery and well-appointed accommodations truly set the stage for a memorable stay. However, the service, particularly in the restaurant, fell far short of expectations. The staff often was unfriendly, and even simple inquiries seemed to be met with reluctance. Communication was a challenge as many staff had limited proficiency in English. On multiple occasions, we were forgotten, and we had to follow up due to prolonged waiting times. The food quality was another significant disappointment, especially when compared to the other nine places we visited in the Dolomites. Breakfast offerings were particularly underwhelming: bread was not fresh, fruit appeared past its prime, and the buffet lacked quality, giving off a "cheap" impression. The dessert buffet was similarly unimpressive, consisting of pre-made items seemingly sourced wholesale. One exception was the Kaiserschmarrn, which was well-prepared by the chef in front of you. It is strange to see mostly positive reviews for the property, as our experience did not align with the high praise. This might largely be attributed to the beautiful rooms and great location, which are undeniably excellent. However, we feel the common areas, such as the lobby and parts of the restaurant, need modernization. The property's online presence showcases only the recently renovated sections, which created expectations that were not entirely met upon arrival. Gnollhof has immense potential, but improvements in service quality, food offerings, and upgrades to shared spaces are essential to align the guest experience with the property's stunning location and promising reputation.
