Hotel Goldener Adler

Wonderful place right on the square. Very helpful staff. Lovely big room with high ceilings and nice big ensuite. Excellent buffet breakfast. We will be back.

Overpriced! No air conditioning in rooms so in summer you are pushed to open windows, which means noise from street and BELL FROM CHURCH all night, each hour. Drama. Problems with parking. Never again!

An empty reception greets us at 19:00. We end up waiting 25’ to be given the key to our room as the receptionists is busy tending the hotel bar for the football match. He promptly informs us that the hotel parking is overbooked and we won’t be able to park there. When asked where should we park he utters a “somewhere around” and leaves. It could be a satisfactory answer if it weren’t for the fact only people with homes in Bautzen can park anywhere near the hotel. After driving to park 0,5 km away, we are greeted by a poorly insulated, cheap chipboard, sad excuse of a room. With the radiators locked so they can’t go past 3/5. The slanted roofs of the miniscule room made sure we bumped our heads more than once, with neither of us being taller than 1.80. Very unbecoming for a 4 star hotel at a touristic destination. As a recommendation, if direction can’t staff, both a reception and a bar, perhaps they should focus on the former, as clients may be in dire need of a rest. Of which they will find little in the very non-accommodating space.
