Hotel Graaf Bernstorff

The restaurant has really nice food, and even better desserts! Treat for the eyes as well. The continental breakfast was really nice and fresh. Good coffee as well. Stayed in a two bedroom apartment, very nice with decent beds and a good kitchen with dishwasher. It was a bit noisy with neighbors, but they walked with heals over a stone floor. There’s no solution for that I guess 😂 Very pleasant stay with all nice and friendly staff. Would recommend!

We spent three nights between Christmas and New Year in a suite located in an annex to this venerable hotel on Schiermonnikoog. It was more like a well equipped apartment including a full kitchen with equipment for longer stays. Besides some spider web here and there it was clean and only abut 100 m from the main hotel, next to the tourist information centre. Beds were excellent and so was the shower. A shoehorn was missing. Breakfast was basic at best and you were received without any emotions with the exception of the sympathetic waiter from Tenerife who served us for dinner upon our arrival on the island. The hotel has its own free bus service taking you to the ferry 30 min before its departure.

The food is very mediocre. Chicken sate, the little that I ate, was raw, made me sick. The Dutch waiters could do with washing their hair and wearing smarter shirts. The only guy who truly knows hospitality is the Colombian guy. Smart, friendly, organised. The rest should take lessons from him, even the guys from Canarias. Smarten up a bit and smile.
