If you want to get to know the region of Jalisco known as Los Altos de Jalisco, Hotel Gralta is a great starting point! The hotel is located in Jalostotitlan. The town's nickname is "Jalos". Jalos has a small- town feel, much unlike San Juan de los Lagos (not too far from here). The hotel is located a short, walking distance (about 7 minutes) from the church, plaza and restaurants. The restaurant within the Hotel Gralta serves good food with great service (mostly had breakfast there) and a restaurant in town (Mi Pueblo) serves great meals and drinks. While you're there, ask if you can see the restaurant's Bodega and Tower. We really enjoyed learning about the region's history (including the country's religious persecution know as the "Cristiada"). La Finca de San Antonio is also near by....wine tasting anyone?
This is an exceptional hotel with first-class service and delicious restaurants. The staff are friendly. Very classy.
My latest visit was a letdown. The room was dirty, with hairs in the bathroom and shower, and a dry contact lens left behind. Lola's Restaurant had slow service (30+ min wait for food) and the food was overcooked. Not what I expected from Hotel Gralta.
