Fantastic hotel with splendid views. Hospitality is top tier and you are warmly welcomed by the Lieglein family. The meals are also of great quality and can be compared to those of well-known restaurants. This hotel does not get enough recognition!

I had the privilege of returning to the Hotel Gridlon in Pettneu, a place that holds a very special place in my heart. As a child in the 1990s, I visited this family-run gem with my parents. Even at the age of 8, I was struck by the unique Austrian charm—an atmosphere that was both chic and simple. Those early experiences left an indelible mark on me, inspiring my understanding of the importance of the guest experience. Now, decades later, as a hotelier myself, having worked in some of the world’s most renowned luxury properties, I decided to revisit the Gridlon with my wife, and it exceeded all my expectations. Stepping into this hotel again after 30 years felt like stepping back into a time capsule of warmth, authenticity, and family-driven hospitality. The updates to the infrastructure are remarkable. The addition of a stunning spa and an outdoor pool that steams invitingly at the foot of the mountains are just a few examples of how the hotel has evolved while maintaining its timeless charm. The Lieglein family, now three generations in, continues to manage the property with the same grace, kindness, and impeccable taste. We opted for the half-board package—a choice I highly recommend unless you are on a strict diet! Chef Christian Lieglein delighted us with extraordinary meals throughout our stay, turning each evening into a culinary celebration. His wife, Sigrid, greeted us with genuine warmth and ensured every detail of our visit was flawless from the moment we arrived. As someone who is intimately involved in directing some of the world’s most celebrated hotels, I was truly impressed by the Gridlon. The level of service, gastronomy, and authenticity is nothing short of inspiring. It serves as a powerful reminder of what truly matters in a guest experience—the perfect balance of sophistication and simplicity. For anyone seeking a week of pure, timeless bliss, the Hotel Gridlon is a masterclass in creating unforgettable moments. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

In this amazing hotel you are welcomed by the Lieglein family and their staff. They will make you feel right at home with their warm, personal & highly professional service mindedness. The hotel itself is very well kept – with some parts traditionally Austrian – and some parts modern. With great “Fingerspitzengefühl” they have managed to weave this together to a perfect retreat in the Alps with everything you need – independent of which season you visit. The SPA and pool areas are brand new, with several different saunas and relax areas, and appeals to both those who want to socialize with their company, and to those who want to relax in peace. Culinary wise – you’ve come to the right place. The breakfast buffet is amazing, with everything you could ever wish for. Lunch & afternoon snack vary depending on season but is always good. Every evening – you are invited to a 5 course menu (incl salad buffet) where you always have several choices to tailor your own dinner depending on your preference for healthy/vegetarian, traditional or modern cuisine. The surroundings are very beautiful with high mountains, forests, meadows etc. In Pettneu you are guaranteed a peaceful stay – without any disturbances from traffic, partying etc. Still – it is very easy to get to St Anton – preferably with the hotel shuttle service (in winter). Families, couples & other groups of people will appreciate this hotel and have an unforgettable stay!
