Hotel Grão Vasco Historic Hotel & Spa

This is THE place to stay if planning to visit Viseu, perfect location, super well cared garden, we can feel that the owners care for the place. The air conditioning in the rooms works perfectly, the swimming pool right on the center of the city a gift considering Viseu's extremely hot summers, the staff are really helpful and the price of the rooms is fair. Don't expect a 5 star hotel but come for the location and good energy of this place

The bathroom door doesn't work and the hallways literally smell like sewage.

Old hotel in every sense of the word - old building, old decor, dark/drab furniture, super small elevators, and minimal service available (I had an especially hard time trying to track someone down in the hotel bar for assistance). If it weren’t for the ideal city location, I’d say you could skip this place. It doesn’t offer much other than walking proximity to tourist spots. Rooms lack sound proofing so noise from next door and hallway is noticeable. I’m glad the rooms had large open windows to allow for fresh air - that was a benefit.
