Hotel Havrania

The hotel is situated in the middle of nature, beautiful surroundings, hikes available directly from the hotel. Wonderful culinary experience, both breakfast and dinners. Pool, wellness, table tennis and outdoor tennis court, great service.

We visited Hotel Havrania from the USA in January 2022. This place is a gem! Getting there: We rented an AWD SUV in Vienna and drove the 3.5 hours to the hotel without any difficulty. Border crossing was smooth, didn’t even have to stop until our return back to Austria. If no snow a car would be fine but there was plenty of slippery snow on the roads in the mountains so we were thankful for the AWD to not have to worry about chains. The hotel: Gorgeous! The quality of construction is noticeable and the views of the surrounding hills, countryside and mountains are stunning. We had a room in the hotel that was clean and comfortable, but they also have chalets that are incredible for a group or family. The restaurant has a cozy fireplace to enjoy after a day of adventure and the bar is well stocked with a fine selection of liquor. There is also a Wellness Center with 2 saunas (one steam, one dry), a cold tub and a warm pool, and a relaxing room to rest in. Can also book a massage. The food: Everything was delicious, you would think you were at a 5 star restaurant in the city. Wonderful cuts of meat with flavorful sauces and a great selection of tasty wines to pair with whatever you choose. Wish we had more time to try everything on the menu. The staff: Everyone was friendly and attentive. They know the area very well so if you need recommendations on where to ski in the winter or hike in the summer they will happily assist with your plans. We are so glad we found this place and cannot recommend it enough. If you are looking for a beautiful place in the mountains of Slovakia to relax and adventure this is an absolute must. You won’t be disappointed.

Visited just restaurant, so review is for that part. Food selection was very limited, which is not necessarily bad, but menu was presented on printed A4 paper in "euroobal" (not what you expect at 4-star hotel). Price is quite high, similar to better restaurants in capitol (maybe that you can expect at 4-star hotel), however amount of food I got was quite small compared to price. I was leaving with half empty belly. Despite restaurant being almost empty we had to wait quite long for food to arrive. In the end taste was good and presentation of main course and desert very nice (can't say the same for soup). I wounder how salmon risotto can be made from fresh local resources (as they presented it for whole menu), but didn't try that one to be able to say. What I can definitely pick as positive is fabulous view from restaurant, so in the end my impression of the experience was just ok, that's why 3/5 stars.
