Just had a wonderful weekend stay with my wife at Hotel Hayden! Let's start with the best stuff first: location, location, location. I've stayed in this part of Chelsea before, and find myself keep coming back again and again. You are close to Madison Square Garden, Penn Station, a large amount of local and express subway stations, close to both Midtown and downtown. Everything is very walkable/public transit friendly. And the street itself is very cute, a mini garden district. The hotel itself was quite welcoming and lovely, spacious, clean, welcoming and inviting. Great people working there. Loved the room as well, it was fairly comparable to if not better than other hotel rooms in the vicinity. I was a little apprehensive at first due to some of the negative reviews I read particularly concerning the air conditioning not functioning, however that was definitely not the case for us. We were very comfortable the entirety of our stay, despite the summer heat outside. My only complaint is the additional $42+ PER NIGHT mandatory added charge, bear this in mind when you are looking at the price of the hotel. It's actually $42 more than advertised. In all fairness however, this was clearly and thoroughly communicated to me upon check-in by the front desk receptionist Nicky/Nikki (who was absolutely wonderful). Overall, I would definitely recommend the hotel if the price is right. If you are just looking for a comfortable, clean place to get a good nights sleep after a full day of exploring the city, hotel Hayden is for you.

It’s a hot summer and the room is hot. It’s not warm, it’s hot. The AC doesn’t work, and apparently hasn’t been working fundamentally for almost a year. I asked for a fan for 4 days and they finally gave me a small fan that doesn’t work! It’s a tiny fan dub as a heater, and there’s no wind coming out. My room was over 84F. The engineers were not helpful, however they really tried and they were so much nicer than the receptionist. The rooms are spacious, and I have to say the staffs are trying and most are nice. The front desk however was quite rude. But with the quality of the breakfast, which doesn’t even have toasts or cornflakes, I’m not sure how this hotel has 4 stars. With the money paid, it’s really not worth it. With the same money you can stay at somewhere 3 stars and better. I’ve asked for a refund and it’s not even an option. Note that there’s a €37 per night amenity fees after your stay, and with the only amenity I was satisfied was the ice machine, to cool the room off, it’s not worth it.

Where do I even start with Hotel Hayden? This place was a complete letdown. The air conditioner in our room was broken, and despite multiple complaints from other guests (clearly a known issue), it was 80 degrees in our room—unbearable! We called for “engineers” several times, and when they finally “fixed” it, the AC worked for a measly couple of hours before breaking again. Sleeping in that heat was a nightmare. I was also misled about the amenities. No rooftop bar or restaurant, despite what I’d read online. What a disappointment. Downstairs, the so-called meeting room was a joke—used as a storage closet for cleaning supplies, with towels draped over chairs to dry and a leak so bad it was peeling the wallpaper. Disgusting and unprofessional. The lobby? Oh, that was air-conditioned just fine—guess they only care about appearances. To top it all off, the billing was a mess. I booked for $764.96, but they charged me $933 at checkout, claiming it included a $75 deposit. My receipt, however, said $912. Shady and confusing. Save your money and stay somewhere else. This hotel is hot.
