I just wanted to commend the staff at this hotel. Myself and some family members were part of a group of around 40 passengers that ITA airways bused to this hotel after delaying our flight from Athens to Rome which caused us to miss our flight to the U.S. This hotel is 50 minutes from the Rome airport. It is on the beach. We were told it was a 4 star hotel and they would have everything we needed, as well as meals. Helios knew we were coming, but they were not informed that they would need to feed us. With it being the end of the warm season there were barely anything open to get food. This hotel stepped up and put together dinner, including dessert. Pasta, grilled chicken, salad and Gelato with blackberry compote. It was not fancy, but everything was delicious and fresh. They also provided a Nutella stuffed croissant, juice and water the next morning. Great beach area with restaurants, including a Gelato shop. I'm sure this area is busseling during the peak season. I took several great sunset on the beach shots from the hotel balcony. After a 3 hour delay on our flight to Rome from D.C., a 6 hour and 45 minute delay on our Athens to Rome flight after waking up at 2am and no luggage, and now an unknown delay on our flight from Rome to D.C. We will never fly ITA airlines again. We are just now finding out that ITA used to be Italia Airways. They were going bankrupt because of all the complaints about this very type of thing. They have not updated their planes since the 1950's. They wait to bring in a working plane when they're having technical difficulties causing delays beyond what is acceptable when it continually occurs. I'd say they're headed for bankruptcy again. I know that several passengers are submitting complaints, including a former mayor of a town in Maryland in the U.S. Hotel Helios is nothing fancy, but it is clean, has a hard working staff who were very accommodating considering they were unprepared and it has a great sea beachfront within just a couple of minutes walk and can be seen from the hotel balconies.
Hotel is pretty clean and basic, but the interior stuck in the '70s, almost felt creepy. Close to the sea side. Staff nice enough, breakfast was in the room rate, but gave me the canteen feeling. Overall, I don't think €110 a night was worth it.
Wifi is so frikn slow. Shower head so dirty all in experiance is a mess . Never ever gona go here again
