A Merida Gem with Exceptional Service – Thank You, Juanjo at ILUNION! My recent stay at the ILUNION hotel in Merida was absolutely fabulous, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the hotel's modern amenities, comfortable rooms, and prime location, making it the perfect base for exploring all that Merida has to offer. What truly elevated my experience, however, was the outstanding service I received, particularly from Juanjo at the hotel's restaurant/bar. Juanjo is an absolute gem! Every interaction with him was a pleasure. He consistently went above and beyond to ensure I had everything I needed, whether it was offering insightful recommendations from the menu, serving drinks with a friendly smile, or simply engaging in genuinely pleasant conversation. His attentiveness, professionalism, and warm demeanor made every visit to the restaurant/bar a delightful experience. It's rare to encounter such dedicated and personable service, and Juanjo truly made a lasting positive impression. The hotel itself boasts comfortable and well-appointed rooms, a great atmosphere in the common areas, and a convenient location within easy reach of Merida's historical sites and vibrant atmosphere. The breakfast spread was delicious, offering a wide variety of options to start the day right. In summary, if you're planning a trip to Merida, look no further than the ILUNION hotel. This restaurant is truly amazing! The service was outstanding. Juanjo a great and friendly server who took care of us perfectly well. We had a traditional Spanish lunch that was tasteful and delicious. The Hotel is located in the plaza España which is the historic downtown.

This is a 16th century nobleman palace, tastefully restored with a mix of original and contemporary styles. The architect did a wonderful job. Not so much the decorator. Once you enter past the lobby, plenty of details invite you to scream or shout. Plastic flowers, yellow textured walls in the style of spanish 60´s middle class, gratuitous fake roman medallions... Our room was as spacious as scarcely inviting. The shower was inside of a narrow bathtub, itself inside a smallish, bizarrely decorated bathroom. You get the idea. The staff is nice and friendly. The self-service breakfast buffet was not what one would expect, with unripe, unpeeled fruit pieces and supermarket pasteurized juice among the highlights. This hotel claims to be 5-star. Right.
