Actually I gave 2 stars only because of its location. Very noisy and uncomfortable. You can hear any noise from outside and other rooms while they're talking, basically it's just a cardboard walls. The fridge was specially noisy to the point we had to pull the plug out to get some sleep. An awful breakfast with dirty dishes and atmosphere. There is no even a telephone in room. Very poor room facility. Very poor Internet connection, half of the time it was disconnected. All over the hotel reeked of damp. But as I said the location is great, It's 4-5 min walks to river and 10 min to Nevsky street. If you only care about location you can choose it like us, but dont expect anything more.
This is not a four star hotel in my "european idea" of a four star, this is the main reason of my low rate review. Prices are high, biggest rooms are no more then 10m2, bathrooms are very small and the cleanings are not perfect. If you decide to choose it anyway consider this two aspects: there is no way to be able to use the Wi-Fi except the area around the reception; you will be in a location where you need to walk at least for 600 meters to arrive to public transports.
Not recommended if you are looking for a good night sleep... We had not booked this hotel directly, but sent there as our hotel had a water pipe issue. The Imperial Art's entrance is on a dirty and slightly dodgy (at night) side street and not very well marked. We were given a room where upon entrance we found an elderly lady sleeping in one of the beds. The receptionist gave us a second room where the door alarm would go off every time the door was shut. The noise levels in the hotel are awful. There was a group of children/teens running around the corridors, screaming, laughing and even chanting until well past midnight. I complained to the reception around 23:30 and was informed (with a smirk) that the law in Russia states people can be noisy until midnight... Not sure what kind of hotel puts up with this sort of behaviour however... Once the screaming was over, we were then treated to the worst sound proof walls that exist, with a couple next door loudly doing 'it'. The next day, our electronic key no longer worked. The teens screaming and running around continued on our second night there. The staff was unhelpful and rude. WiFi is also awful and did not work in our room if the door was shut. I would strongly suggest avoiding this hotel.
