Beautiful hotel in the heart of Durham. Great location only a 10 minute walk to the city centre. The hotel is absolutely stunning, with gorgeous original features and stain glass windows. The room was well equipped and they even supplied us with oat milk on request. Large bed and an amazing waterfall shower. Big mirror for getting ready and ample wardrobe space. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Our bedroom was turned over everday day to a great standard. Our only negative would be the cost of parking. It was £20 per night and we were away for 4 nights, so this worked out quite expensive. Would gladly stay again if in the area.

Highly recommended! It's a very beautiful hotel in the old town. Durham University offered me a room at the hotel when I attended a university seminar. It's in an excellent location, just across the Elvet Bridge, and a five- or ten-minute walk to the campus. The buildings are very old, but the rooms are modernized, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was tasty and served in a pleasant environment. The receptionists were kind, too.

A lovely hotel in a historic building just a short walk from the pedestrian heart of Durham. Rooms are a decent size, bathroom is superb, bed was very comfy, we didn’t hear a thing from outside, and there’s enough space for your bags. Check in is a little hard to find, it’s actually in the basement reached from the car park, but there’s a lift so it’s fine. There’s plenty of cheap parking in the street right outside, and it’s free after 6pm, or they have limited parking on site. Breakfast here was one of the best we’ve had anywhere, with a great selection of pastries, fresh fruit, cereal and some really interesting hot dishes, along with the usual full Scottish. Staff went out of the way to deal with a request for gluten free and were simply wonderful.
