Hotel Kalevala

We had a wonderful stay in this charming hotel. The cook is excellent and all staff went beyond to make us feel at home. We did husky sledge rides with Juha, a tour with local guide Jari and an amazing ski tour with local guide Kerttu. Definitely recommend!

Hotel out in the nature. Quiet location. No luxury but solid quality. Good food in the restaurant. Bathroom needs renovation.

Very heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Kalevala Hotel. They are all very helpful and friendly. The rooms are good. They are the perfect place for activities, as the hotel is located at the water directly above the lake. In wintertime, the skiing slopes or sledge trail Starts right at the front door. They organize a plethora of activities. We were on a husky sledge tour. Took skiing classes. Went on a daytrip with a wildlife specialist and photographer on tracks of wildlife, were out with a tour guide on a snow shoe tour. They have a similar breadth of activities in the summer. The town is interesting too and the hotel is close to the Winter war Museum and a great burger place. They are well equipped, and you can rent everything from skis to ice skating shoes. There is a good sauna and two jacuzzi, one inside and a heated one outside with view on the lake. Breakfast buffet with local food and Karelian pies.
