Hotel Karlan San Diego a DoubleTree by Hilton

Just left the hotel and wow! The front desk service was excellent- very kind, friendly, accommodating, and generous. Water and Hilton cookies were offered and gladly accepted. The room was spacious, clean, and private- a welcomed sight compared to so many generic rooms. I will never stay at another hotel while in San Diego. This was simply the most incredible stay and the price was beyond fair.

Great quite atmosphere. Smaller villas with limited rims in each, helps keep the nose down. A little more difficult to find your room, but we liked it much better than the typical hotel. Have to pay extra for parking, but maybe able to ask for a discount or maybe a couple of free breakfast vouchers. Buffet breakfast is awesome and everything was fresh with great variety, but way too expensive at around $20. Overall we highly recommend this place, one of our favorites in the area, rooms are on the higher end of the price scale

The hotel was overall okay, the room was very spacious and the staff was friendly. The breakfast was the best! However, I had to ask for too many times to get the right foam pillows, and the area smelled a bit weird while I walked through the lobby to get to my room which was on 1st floor (basement). Other than there was a spider in bed, a dead cockroach in my restroom next morning. Hence 3 stars.
