Hotel Kohlmais

We have recently returned from an amazing stay in Hotel Das Kohlmais for the week commencing 8th March, there were 6 of us - 6 adults. All of our rooms were super, they felt recently renovated and a great size, with lovely balconies. The Spa are was super and we used it every day. Lovely warm outdoor pool with amazing views, indoor pool and superhot sauna, steam room and other facilities. We really looked forward to it every single day. The other hotel facilities were super also, lovely bar, with a great outdoor area and two beautiful restaurants. The ski room was top-class too, very comfortable, great heated lockers - luxury feel. The breakfast was fab each and every morning. The evening 5 course dinner was simply fantastic, the innovation, the quality of the ingredients, the presentation - we were all excited to experience each course every evening. We had super service from Sophie, Hannah, Tom and everybody else whom we came in contact with. All were fantastic, we will definitely be back for a ski holiday, and would also hope to visit for a summer trip. We thoroughly enjoyed our 7 night stay - my husband and I plus two teen/early 20s daughters. The food was truly exceptional. We've stayed in many hotels around the world and others in Austria and living in London have been to some top restaurants and this was second to none. It was fresh, creative and truly delicious and the desserts were some of the best we've ever eaten - anywhere! Needless to say, we ate far too much!! The waiting staff were very good too. We had one modern room which was lovely with a beautiful mountain view and very quiet as we were away from the street. Our only minor issue was that a bit more shelving/drawers for clothes storage would have been good. The girls had one of the older rooms which felt a bit tired but was very clean, so no real issues. The spa was wonderful, especially as there were no rules about nudity which can be very awkward for teenagers. It was a bit frustrating that the jacuzzi element of the pool often didn't work, but otherwise it was all beautiful, very modern and clean. Location is great - right opposite one of the main ski lifts and just out of the main town centre, so not too noisy.

We had the most incredible week stay at Das Kohlmais. The staff went above and beyond to make it such a pleasant stay, particularly Hannah and Sophie, who looked after us during most of our meals, and Tom who was always around to help and making some delicious cocktails. They were professional but we also had a good laugh with them. Secondly, the food, an important part of a holiday for us because of our love for good food! Tobi and his second hand man (the ideas guy who we didn’t get his name!) curated the most interesting menus every day that we looked forward to so much. A selection of the dishes we have included pictures of, but couldn’t do justice for how delicious they tasted, thank you to the whole team in the kitchen. We couldn’t leave without trying the sushi on the Friday, a huge recommendation for anyone staying here. The hotel has such a relaxed environment, with a gorgeous bar to have a pre-dinner drink. And lastly, the spa! The best spa we have had at any ski resort we’ve been to. The outdoor pool was perfectly warm, with a lovely view down the valley. The sauna was also the perfect temperature which can be hard to find! Overall this was the best experience we have had at any ski resort across Austria and France and we have been to over 20, we don’t have a single comment or complaint! Thank you to the whole Das Kohlmais team for making a ski trip so special for our family, we will cherish these memories forever and we will definitely be back!
