Hotel Kühberg

Great hotel at a great location! The hotel is family owned with only 20 rooms, which allows very accommodating and nice service. Food quality is excellent, good choice of wines (for good recommendations check with the service, not all wines are shown on the menu) and cocktails. A For dinner there is always a vegetarian option. Ingredients are mostly local. Stunning views over Oberstdorf and a good starting point for hiking. Hotel is on the hill above the city, about 15 min away from the center

I ended up in this hotel by mistake. I wanted to book at the Hotel Restaurant Kuhberg in Hamburg and when I looked up their website I booked at this other hotel without realising. I called to cancel and they wouldn't let me. I know it was my mistake, but I think humanity should be above rules and contracts, and I would be much poorer than the hotel if I lost that money. Since I couldn't afford to lose the amount of the reservation, I had to take a train and spend 14 hours crossing the whole country. And well, as for the hotel, the truth is that the place is wonderful. The room was spacious and luxurious. The only drawback I would put on it was the pillow, it was noticeably very used and uncomfortable, I think they could use a memory foam makeover. The food offered for dinner was fantastic and the breakfasts were very good too. The attention of the staff is what I would call "professional kindness", correct at all times. In conclusion, it was a change of plans that led to a completely different vacation, but one that I was certainly able to enjoy. I would add that since I arrived in the morning of the following day, I missed a dinner that they have not reimbursed me for. It would have been a nice touch on their part.

Family driven. Located above the city. Nice views. Direct access to hike trails. Great food. Friendly staff. Cows bells 24/7. Rooms are rebuild recently and provide US business level comfort. Some details do not match the price tag though.
