I enjoyed my stay in the hotel, which offers a bit of peace and quiet in this bustling city. We were able to walk everywhere, the service was polite and efficient, the rooms nicely appointed and clean, breakfast above average (for my taste). The look and feel is individual rather than standardised, which I prefer. Not too many rooms, so it never felt crowded. The immediate surrounding feels a little run down, but in no way dangerous as other reviewers have described. Overall very good value for money at the height of the season. I‘d be happy to return.

Booked this hotel for a 5 night stay and it should not be considered a 4 star hotel. Will first add the AC is locked at 20 degrees. We paid 400 euro a night for a room that had locked AC temp (then no AC), very low water pressure in the shower, and dirty walls. A taxi cannot get to the hotel entrance be prepared for that. Had to check out early due to no AC. While they claimed the no AC is out of their control. They kept telling us it would be fixed tomorrow until finally saying the compressor blew and there’s no replacement in all of Rome. They gave us the option of refunding the night we didn’t stay or 100 euros off all the nights we had no AC. At first they said we can have free breakfast. Which is 22 euro a person? Not sure how that’s compensation for booking a hotel with AC in June for a reason. They would not compensate for the days we did stay since we picked to have our last night refunded and had to book a new hotel last minute. During check out when we handed the room key back they forgot to ask for the city taxes which they claim needs to be given in cash. They did end up charging our card on file. So why say it needs to be given in cash? The owner also claims to know no English but spoke perfectly fine and chose not to explain why I can’t have both the refund and 100 euros off. Had I known the AC would not be fixed after the first night with no AC I would have changed hotels and asked for a refund of the remaining nights. Now because I was giving them the benefit of the doubt they don’t want to compensate.

RUN AWAY!!!!! I have traveled to Europe many times and never had an experience this awful. We arrive in Rome to Hotel La Rovere. Upon checking in, they couldn’t find my reservation. Once they did, they asked for my passport and goes - “by the way, there is no AC (it’s 90+ degrees in Rome), Service or WiFi right now”. They sent no email or did not call to inform my group of this information. The front desk was not even helpful in advising us of another hotel. We left, booked another hotel and the best thing they did was offer a full refund. In addition, taxis can’t get you to the front entrance - so you carry your bags through an alley way and up stairs where 4 men were drinking liter beers blocking the top. DO NOT BOOK. We pivoted to Hotel Santa Maria (not too far). PHENOMENAL experience, location & service. 10/10.
