The staff was fantastic at our stay. Competent, professional & extremely friendly. That was such a pleasure. The hotel is very nicely build in wood and the local rock, feels brand new. Central next to the lift.

After communicating a large dog in the reservation, I had to cancel due to the “only small dog” policy, not declared anywhere while booking. Not even sure is compliant to consumer protection.

Nice structure, terrible management I found this hotel on Booking.com while looking for “pet-friendly” accommodations, as I was traveling with a Lagotto.
I booked two connecting Deluxe rooms through their website and, as a matter of correctness, I specified in the notes that I was traveling with a medium-sized dog. No one bothered to contact me to inform me of any restrictions or additional fees. When I arrived in San Domenico, I discovered that my dog, being over 8 kg, was technically not allowed, but that, as a “special exception,” they would accept him if I paid an extra fee. This rule was stated on Booking.com as a vague disclaimer buried at the bottom of the page—which, of course, I only found out afterward. I pointed out that I had clearly mentioned the presence of my dog in my booking request (made two days prior to arrival), and yet no one had the professionalism to notify me. Their response? A dismissive “It’s your responsibility to call the hotel” (despite the fact that I had already sent an email). In short, according to them, I should be the one making sure that bookings are read and processed correctly by the reception... absurd. At this point, I was shocked by the complete lack of professionalism, but I wanted to enjoy my weekend and decided to address the issue with management at check-out. During our stay, we were exemplary guests: we booked massages (at Milan prices), aperitifs, and even a sauna (charged separately, despite the already exorbitant hotel rates). At check-out, I was charged 30 EUROS PER DAY for my dog—outrageous. I complained, and finally, someone who I believe was the manager appeared. Instead of handling the situation professionally, she tried to blame me, waving around the tiny disclaimer on Booking.com. Zero accountability for not having read my booking request, arrogant and rude attitude, completely unworthy of a hotel that pretends to be "luxury." The issue is not the cost itself, but the complete lack of customer care and respect. 30 euros per day for a dog is a rip-off. I love Val D’Ossola and San Domenico—they deserve high-quality tourism that brings economic value but without sacrificing courtesy and respect for visitors. Unfortunately, this hotel embodies the worst side of alpine tourism: pure greed with zero regard for manners. I will return to San Domenico, but never again to Hotel Vetta. I feel sorry for the other staff members, especially the waiters, who were actually very kind.
