We are a family of four adults from Australia travelling in Europe and have just spent 10 days in the lovely Hotel Laurin. The hotel is in the heart of Santa Margherita with all of the bars, restaurants, cafes and shops right on your door step. It is a 10 minute walk to the train station and across the road from the marina which makes it so easy for day tripping to other towns and the Cinque Terra by train or boat. Portofino is a beautiful one hour walk or 15 minute ferry ride. After a day of sight seeing in the heat it was wonderful to come back and relax at the roof top pool which had plenty of very comfortable sun beds and a fabulous view. The rooms are lovely and spotlessly clean, we had a terrace with a great view across the marina which was perfect for afternoon or after dinner drinks. The hotel is a family owned and run by Stefano and his wife Paola and they are both charming and delightful. All of the staff were friendly and polite and helped us with recommendations for sight seeing and restaurants and helped us with a small medical issue booking us in with an English speaking doctor, and then followed up with us the next day to make sure everything was OK. We would highly recommend the Hotel Laurin if you are looking for lovely accommodation with the added bonus of super friendly service and old world charm.
The hotel is very nice and has an excellent location overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and the port. It is surrounded by greenery. It is at the same time very central to all attractions in the city. The bus stop to Portofino is 50m away. The hotel itself has all necessary amenities. Staff is friendly. Room is spacious. The hotel has a pool on the terrace which has gorgeous views. The breakfast is excellent with a wide selection of options. The hotel has a small gym which we tried. I highly recommend the hotel.
We were lucky to find this wonderful hotel by accident. It exudes old world charm and class and the staff were so friendly and helpful Our room overlooked the waterfront with a private terrace. We met a man we thought was the manager and every day he aske us how he could help with train reservations, dinner plans or other trips. It turned out he was the owner and Stefano treated us like family throughout our stay. He and his staff take such pride in the hotel and the services they offer. It was one of the best hotel stays we have ever had and we miss it since returning home.Grazie Paolo and Stefano ! We will be back one day again :-)
