Hotel Le Cilaos

Very good location, very good people. We went for our honeymoon and got ourselves a superior room, the staff offered us the suit. The room was beautiful but unfortunately, it smells quite bad due to humidity. There is a bath and and shower in the room and no roof fan so air is not circulating. It was really a bid down for us but nothing could be done. Despite the size of the hotel, it is very quiet and the night was blissfully silent. Pool is heated but in winter it is still too cold for us too last more than a minute. The spa was very enjoyable, we got one free hour as a winter deal. We took the breakfast option and were quite disappointed. On our second day eggs were barely cooked and not many other appealing option for a $18 breaky.

The hotel is nice but super expensive for what you get. A few average things: Breakfast was terrible...I didn't dare eat the eggs We were given a coffee machine and kettle to make coffee in our room but no coffee or sugar. I asked for coffee and sugar at reception and they gave me 1 sachet of each (not really enough for 2 people for 2 nights) We waited an hour before we could check in even though check in was at 2 we checked into our room at 3 The room stunk! Smelt like stale mould. I had to get an air spray and keep windows open all the time. We enjoyed our stay but the rooms definitely need improvement and it's not hard to fix these issues. Also was extremely expensive for what it was

We stayed at Hotel Le Cilaos during our honeymoon and had mixed experiences. The rooms were beautiful – clean, nicely decorated, and very comfortable. The view and peaceful location were also a big plus. Unfortunately, our overall impression was strongly affected by the way the staff treated us. As soon as it became clear that we didn’t speak French fluently, we received almost no service. Information, such as details about the spa area we had reserved, was either not given or only vaguely explained. Despite our efforts to communicate in basic French, no one made any effort to respond in English or assist us in any way. We were especially disappointed with the condition of the whirlpool – it was so dirty that we refused to use it. When we asked about it, we were simply ignored. It’s a real shame, because with just a bit of openness and willingness to communicate, our stay could have been a pleasant one despite the language barrier. Instead, we felt unwelcome and left with a bitter aftertaste. For French-speaking guests, this hotel may be a great option. For international travelers who don’t speak much French, unfortunately, we cant recomment it.
