Hotel Livvo Fataga

perfect location in the center of las palmas, 10 min walk to playa las canteras. super friendly staff, very nice breakfast, clean rooms with city views, perfect place to spend time away from the crowded south. gracias a todos.

We stayed in November for our first visit to Gran Canaria. We had a nice stay from as soon as we arrived with the friendly welcome from Priscilla on reception and recommendation of a good nearby restaurant / tapas bar to get food in the evening. The other standbout staff are the breakfast staff - the team on the very good breakfast buffet were excellent. And nearly always friendly and cheerful despite being in no doubt highly demanding and fast paced jobs (being friendly and cheerful isn't a requirement but was nice and these staff are very professional). The rooms are nice, comfortable beds, well equiped. It seemed a shame that they don't have balconies (the rooms seem to have been extended into the former balconies) but they are quite spacious and it would be noisy if you were on a balcony as in a busy part of a busy city. You can open the windows at least and our room had an interesting view of the 'Central' market (that is central in the north part of the city. In Las Palmas it seems you need to choose between the old part of the city, and the new part, in which case also nearer one of the shopping areas, or port or nearer the beach. Hotel LIVVO Fataga is about ten minutes walk from the middle of the beach, 15 minutes to a quieter northern stretch (when we visited), near deparment stores and some premium shops and there are restaurants and bars within five or ten minutes when you find them. Plus many along the beachfront - to suit all tastes and pockets. Google Maps is useful but not always very accurate on the buses and timetables in Las Palmas (idiosyncratic or inconsistent?) but you can easily get buses from near the market to the old town and back from the old town, Vegueta. They can be crowded but are inexpensive so you can easily get between the hotel and historic Vegueta with museums, art gallery, cathedral and tapas bars and fancy restaurants, shops and some bars in twenty to thirty minutes (15 minutes or less on the bus).

Loved our stay, the room was lovely and fully equipped with toiletries and clean towels. Breakfast was delicious and included a big variety of different foods, perfect to suit different dietary needs. Location is great, within walking distance from basically most of Las Palmas. There are bus stops right outside the hotel if needed and the staff is friendly and always willing to helped. The only little misunderstanding was the lack of hot tub, which was advertised on the website alongside pictures, but not in use at present.
