From the outside, Hotel Lodi looks completely abandoned. Even finding the entrance is confusing—it’s at the back of the building, not clearly signposted. The structure seems to date back to the mid-20th century, but inside it screams 1970s: aluminium frames, dated doors, and a general feeling that it was either repurposed or heavily renovated during that decade. A more recent renovation in 2018 supposedly refreshed things like curtains, carpets, and furniture—but the current state feels more like a patched-up disaster than a proper restoration. Most things are broken or don’t work. The shower looks like some kind of time machine: it has fans at the top, multiple side jets, a seat, a mirror inside, and even a remote control suggesting there should be music. But none of it works—only a single cheap shower head spraying water all over the place. The moonlight in the room flickers constantly. The pictures on the walls are hung crooked. The bedside lamps are mismatched—one warm light, one cold. The bed cover looks straight out of the 1970s and like it hasn’t been washed since. The pillowcases are from two completely different sets of bed linen. The beds are simply pushed together, but not joined properly, so I was constantly falling into the gap. One of the pillows literally had a spring inside it—a metal spring—which made it impossible to sleep on. The fridge doesn’t work. The tap in the sink is broken, and it’s not at all clear how to get hot water. The entire area is infested with mosquitoes. In the corner of my room there was a spider with a large web, which I left there because at least it might help control the mosquito population. There were mosquitoes inside the room too. The only thing that kind of worked was the air conditioning. After being on for a couple of hours, the air output was about 7°C cooler than room temperature—not the best, but significantly better than many other hotels I’ve stayed at in Italy. In summary: this hotel is neglected, uncomfortable and full of broken fixtures. Avoid if you can.
It's a shame that this hotel still has four stars on the building, because it doesn't deserve even one. The elevator doesn't work properly, everything is like from last century, and it doesn't seem to be upgraded soon.
I was for just a night at this hotel, and I can say this was the worst stay at any hotel in my life. First, building from outside is in terrible contidion and was last time painted long time ago. When we entered the room, we were very surprised. Room was not made and thus was dirty. Toilet was not usable and everything in the room was from the 70's. Opening the window we smeled urine and feces. At the end, breakfast was just bread and ham. Personally, I do not recommend coming here, unless they change everything from the bottom.
