Hotel Loma Real

I needed a room last minute and showed up at Hotel Loma Real. I decided to go to another hotel becuase I was looking for something a bit more simple. However, with that said, I must mention the front desk person. Even when I decided not to stay there...he saw I was exhausted and stressed out. He gave me water, offered me coffee. And when my taxi showed up - he came outside and communicated with the driver in spanish to make sure I got to the right place, safely. I can't thank them enough for being so cordial, even after I decided not to stay there. Amazing treatment and service. Highly recommend.

60s era hotel that has been kept up in good shape and renovated. Rooms are large. You definitely need a car if staying there; not in a walkable area.

The hotel is an old Camino Real and it's age shows. The rooms are ok but many have connecting doors and you can literally hear every word your neighbors speak. At least they are clean. Food at the restaurant is mediocre at best. Breakfast was much better than dinner. Sadly they have an old horse drawn cart which a plaque claims is from the days of the camino real path. The plaque even says they constructed a pavillion to protect it yet it's roof has giant holes and the rain pours in.Value for money is poor and I likely will not stay again. One positive - the view from the restaurant is nice. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to walk from the Bodega Aurora which is fairly close to the bus terminal if you are coming from Guatemala via a local van.
