This is a big property and quite centrally located. It still is a very popular hotel but shows distinct signs of a certain loss of grandeur. Hotel staff is elderly but polite courteous and helpful. The lobby is very beautiful with a high dome and the swimming pool area is beautiful too, though crowded. If you like spanking new properties you might not like it as this hotel has an old world charm. We loved it except for certain areas in the room that showed paint peeling and broken toilet roll holders. I'll still excuse it, as being the busy season, housekeeping must be stretched to its limits. Food was very average and the breakfast buffet was unimaginative and indifferent. They refused to serve either a boiled egg or an omelette and instead we had to make do with insipid cold runny scrambled eggs kept on one side of the buffet in a large pan. Check in and check out was very slow and tedious. I definitely would not like to repeat my experience here no matter how pretty the property is.
It is supposed to be 4 star hotel, but it doesn't meet the general 4star hotel standards in my opinion. Firstly, there are no kettles nor irons in the rooms. Breakfast is very, very basic..very limited choice. The only warm food available are pancakes, which are prepared from 9am on spot, take long time to wait for them and in limited amounts. Apart from that, there is huge pile of sweet, dry pastry, no freshly squeezed orange juice, only carton juice. Authentic Morroccan dishes in the evening would be welcomed and encourage guests to dine in the hotel rather than out. Carpets in the corridor and in our bedroom were dirty and worn out, alike were the door in the bathroom. Paint starts peeling off the walls in the restaurant. The pool in winter time is useless, as not heated. + fortunately, bed linen was fresh and clean, the hotel has nice authentic, traditional decor and fire places in the evening make it more atmospheric.
This is not a 4 star hotel, this may have been at one point, but that was a long time ago. It's run down and the service is among the worst we experienced while in Morocco. When we checked in (at 5pm, well past check in time), they gave us a room that hadn't been cleaned and smelt like a sewer. Then when they moved us to a different room, we waited another hour for towels and the bed to be made. The pool had heaps of bugs on the surface of it, and the staff reused pool towels without cleaning them. We did not experience any quality of service from the hotel staff when ever we needed anything. We asked for extra pillows every single day of our stay and never received them. The concierge doesn't understand the concept of their job. There are plenty of nicer riads for the same price. I wouldn't recommend staying here.
