Hotel Meierhof is a refined yet relaxed four-star alpine hotel located on Davos Promenade. With a long history dating back to 1890, it combines traditional Swiss hospitality with modern comfort. Ideal for couples, families, event attendees, and outdoor enthusiasts, it offers a warm welcome and excellent amenities in a peaceful, well-connected location.

I recently stayed at this hotel, and while it’s clear they’ve made efforts to renovate and modernize the rooms—which are very nice, clean, and comfortable—the service left much to be desired. Upon arrival, I had dinner at the restaurant and was told that they only accept cash due to a “technical issue,” meaning room charges weren’t possible. Doubting this, I went to reception to confirm. The receptionist who assisted me upon arrival was extremely polite, helpful, and welcoming, clarifying that room charges could indeed be processed manually. Returning to the restaurant to inform the manager myself felt frustrating and unnecessary—this is basic information that staff should already know. If it weren’t so late, and I hadn’t just flown to Zurich and driven all the way to Davos, I would have sought out another, more welcoming place to dine. Adding to this frustration, I found the restaurant to be extremely expensive compared to all the other places I dined during my stay. On the first day, housekeeping completely missed cleaning my room. I had to mention this at reception, after which the room was promptly cleaned. While this was resolved quickly, it’s a basic expectation that should not have been overlooked in the first place. Breakfast service on the first day was similarly underwhelming. It was very slow, and the food options lacked attention to detail. For instance, the bacon was so overcooked it was practically burned—something I wouldn’t expect from a hotel of this standard. However, I did notice an improvement in service and quality on the following days, which was a positive step in the right direction. Regarding the spa, I only discovered that towels are provided at reception after reading another review on Booking.com. My suggestion: have bathrobes in the rooms and provide slippers. Since the rooms are already stocked with numerous amenities such as shaving kits, vanity kits, toothbrushes, earplugs, and even shoehorns, adding slippers and bathrobes seems more logical and useful for a ski hotel. The pool is another area that needs more attention. While I understand it is unattended, it still requires regular checks for cleanliness and guest behavior. There is a sign outlining the rules, but how does the hotel ensure they’re followed? Upon arrival, I witnessed a family swimming, jumping into the pool, using flotation toys, and playing ball games, which disrupted the relaxing atmosphere for others. While the hotel has clearly invested in renovating its facilities, it needs to prioritize improving its service. Polite, efficient, and attentive service is essential to the guest experience. The reception team was a standout. The receptionist who assisted me upon arrival was extremely professional and welcoming, setting a good first impression. Additionally, the evening shift receptionist with the bow deserves special mention for their warmth, attentiveness, and professionalism. With more staff like them and a stronger focus on hospitality, this hotel could reach its full potential.

The room we were in had a few major flaws: - it was way too hot. The recommended bedroom temperature is below 22 Celsius; we turned off all radiators and we just couldn't get it to a temperature appropriate for sleeping. We had restless nights of bad sleep because of that. - it is located right at a busy street, yet the windows seem to not have been replaced in a hundred years. Since 1024, however, cars have gotten obnoxiously louder and even with closed windows they are still too loud at midnight to allow you a restful night. Only saving grace is the location, which keeps this review from dropping down to 1 star.
