Located right across from the Bolshoi Theatre, Hotel Metropol is one of those places where time seems to stand still. I stopped by just for a cappuccino and ended up enjoying much more than a simple coffee break. The grand hall is stunning, with high ceilings, stained glass, and an atmosphere that echoes imperial Russia. The menu offers high-quality options at surprisingly reasonable prices, especially for such a prestigious setting. The cappuccino was excellent—perfectly crafted and served in elegant classic china. A great spot to unwind, read, or simply soak in the elegance. Truly a gem that blends history, style, and accessibility.
(Updated May 2025). Came back for Victory Day weekend. Everything was absolutely amazing. thank you!!! Ive been to Moscow more than 7 times and its the first Time I stay in the Metropol. Very mixed experience. The hotel is a Museum and the salons and bars are beautiful, so much history specially if you are into Russian history its a must to visit. But the experience was not what I hoped for a 5 star hotel. The new rooms are spacious but the furniture looks cheap. Also, the cleaning of the room was not the best, they left dirty mugs, cleaning products and never ever accommodated the clothes (pretty standard for a 5 star hotel). They didn't add more products to the bathroom either. The room service and reception never pick up after 9pm? I found this extremely bizarre. No one opens the door at the front of the hotel before you get into the automatic one? The staff is absolutely lovely (room service night and concierge specially and the staff at the breakfast). These are all points very easy to fix, I hope they do it because its a shame having such a beautiful hotel with poor service.
The worst stay I had in my whole life travelling world wide and staying in 5 stars and more hotels. From the reception to the house keeping to the unfriendly staff everywhere accept one decent and hospitable person Miss. Julia Sergeeva. In 5 nights of stay I was lucky to meet Miss Julia which persuaded me to stay.
