We really enjoyed our stay at the Metropolitan in Taipei, delivering the standard you would expect of a Japanese organisation. - Staff service, at every level, from reception to poolside was impeccable and highly commendable - Hotel cleanliness excellent from room to hallway and public toilets - Interiors designed to keep noise to minimum for every guest - Breakfast buffet was wide ranging and covered various tastes from Asia and Europe - Hotel is 30 seconds from subway - 10 mins walk from shops - need to travel to main attractions though - My only grumble, for a Japanese hotel, no wasabi as standard to accompany sushi rice, fresh lemon for tea, alternatives to milk - Regardless, we’ll defo visit again or another branch. - Thank you! 🙏
The location was fine. The service was good by the concierge and some staff. However, housekeeping kept moving my things. I usually put my hairbrush on a towel. In top hotels, they will spread something to let you put your items on. Here, the person kept taking the towel away and replaced it with folded ones. My brush was just put on the counter. The rooms are dated and the drapes sort of saggy. The hotel caters heavily to Japanese guests. This isn’t an issue but almost everything is geared towards them.
There is nothing welcoming about a complimentary welcome drink when your expected to order as many drinks or dishes as people with you. My family had just finished eating after a wonderful day together and I was happy they wanted to accompany me while I had a "complimentary welcome drink" at The Bar. I ordered an appetizer for myself, since I wasn't very hungry and was told we had to order 1 item per person for them to sit with me. So, we left. That, is not complementary, welcoming or good hospitality. So much for a wonderful day. Shame on you. Yes, you are harshly judged by the absolutely worst policy and experience you provided.
