Hotel Miramare

I stayed here this past june/july and this place was beautiful! The staff were amazing and very helpful, the rooms and hotel were extremely clean and it was not even a 2 minute walk to the beach! I absolutely loved the rooms and thought they were gorgeous and i cannot wait to come back. They had a breakfast each morning that was very good. It is also right next to a fantastic restaurant, across from a great cafe and grocery store and up the block from a hair salon. I would definitely recommend this hotel

Positives: - Location in terms of proximity to beach, bus stops and a walkable port, supermarkets and eating places closeby. - Safe location. - Fresh bedsheets (were changed only once in 8 days of stay upon asking though) Negatives: - Poor quality breakfast in a damp smelly basement. Worst breakfast I've had in years of regular travelling. Old food, very limited options, stale food and fruits, low quality products. - Staff- not helpful, poor communication. - No WiFi (we were on 3rd floor, no reception of any routers). - Pillows- stained, smelly, beyond their life. - Room cleaning - quite half hearted, balcony not cleaned even once in 8 days. Overall the room was always smelling of old smoke and damp despite ventilating and AC. - No coffee replacements, had to go down to reception to ask for a coffee pouch. Don't give milk for coffee, no fresh cups. - No access to roof top during our stay and construction noises all day. - No view. The other half of the building is another property which is the sea facing bit of the building.

Just got back from a week’s holiday in Maiori Italy, we booked through Love Holidays. Maiori is a pleasant town on the Amalfi coast. It’s about 15 mins drive from Amalfi. One of the main benefits is that Maiori is flat with no steep steps like Positano and Amalfi. The hotel we stayed at was the Hotel Miramare, it was more like ‘Faulty Towers’. We arrived late in the evening and the gentleman on reception (a ‘Manuel’ double) allocated us room 112. There are around 20 rooms of which half have been refurbished. Of course, our room was not one of the refurbished rooms. It was depressing had not been decorated since the 1960’s and looked very very tired. The view from the window was over the car park and run down buildings. The shower over the bath had no screen or shower curtain. This room was not even a ‘one star’ accommodation. We complained the next morning and they offered us an apartment room in the building nearby. This room was much better, however although the shower was a cubicle, the water temperature control was impossible to maintain a medium temperature. If fact it was very dangerous as it was a scolding heat one minute and freezing cold the next. It became a fight with the shower every time we used it. It was clean but for two days our towels were not replaced and bed not made. The next disappointment was the breakfast on offer. This was available in the basement between 07.00 – 10.00. This hotel had no idea about replenishing the cold buffet when items ran out. If you arrived after 07.30 for breakfast most of the items were not available. The poor guy Diago who ran the breakfast room did his best and provided a good service, but the hotel did not support him. One positive point was the hotel location. It is very central to all the shops, bars, restaurants and only 50 yards from the beach promenade. We could not recommend this hotel based on our experience.
