The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The waiter / barman was awesome, worked day and night, and was so friendly! He recommended a lovely wine from the local monastery. Easy walk to the old town.
A business can fail because of rude and unqualified staff. The woman at the reception desk of this hotel, named Marija, is a perfect example. She greets guests with a cold and unfriendly face. On top of that, she asked one of the guests to pay for a broken door card, even though it was not their fault, and the way she asked was very unpleasant. This kind of behaviour sends a message: “Don’t ever stay at this hotel again, not even walk past it.” I hope the owner gets rid of this rude staff member as soon as possible, or there will be no guests left. My advice: don’t let your business be ruined.
We checked in around 7:30 PM, and from the outside, the hotel looked decent—there’s even a big “four stars” sign. But once you step inside, you seriously start wondering how on earth this place was ever rated four stars. Honestly, even in some parts of Africa, this would barely qualify as a two-star hotel. There’s no kettle in the room, the minibar doesn’t work, and the only way to plug it in is to physically drag the fridge out of the cabinet, reach behind to a hidden socket, plug it in, and somehow push it all back in place. I’m relatively young and managed to do it, but there’s absolutely no way elderly guests could handle that. The bathroom design is another big issue. The shower floods the whole floor, and there’s a huge window facing the main road—about 2m by 1.5m—with only a see-through roller blind. During the day it’s fine, but at night when the light is on, you’re basically on display to anyone walking by outside. There’s zero privacy. Dinner starts at 8:30 PM and ends sharply at 9:30 PM. After a long trip, it would’ve been nice to have more flexibility or at least a more welcoming variety, but the food was just okay—nothing impressive, just enough to fill you up. Breakfast starts at 7:00 AM. Since I’m on a strict diet, I usually only eat boiled eggs and salad. Unfortunately, the eggs felt like they were cooked the night before and pulled straight out of the fridge—stone cold. Luckily, one kind waiter noticed and offered to bring me freshly cooked eggs. That was honestly the only highlight of the morning. In short, this hotel is nowhere near four-star quality. Poor management is obvious—no one wants to take responsibility, and staff members keep passing the buck. It feels more like a low-end guesthouse that got a four-star badge by mistake. It’s sad because the location has real potential. I just hope it doesn’t go to waste under this kind of management
