During our 10-day trip to Japan, we had the chance to stay at the New Grand Hotel in Yokohama. It was a wonderful experience — a place where we enjoyed delicious food at its restaurants and were warmly welcomed by kind and attentive staff. This elegant and stylish hotel, rich in history, helped us create unforgettable memories. Every detail was graceful, and the view was simply breathtaking. If I could rate it 7 stars, I definitely would!
I've been here in March of 2023, and now again in juli of 2025. This is such a great hotel! The view is amazing and the surrounding scenery is beautiful. But most importantly: the people here are kind and courteous and amazing in their profession. For example, we wanted to see the Tokyo flood protection project, the Ryukyukan, but making reservations proved a challenge. However, the concierge swiftly and with great ease made reservations for us and so helped us secure a spot on the tour. These are the kinds of services that are becoming rare in the hotel industry, but New Grand still has these amazing people who just get things done and help make your stay in Japan a very memorable one. Simply said, this is an amazing hotel. Easy 5/5 stars, definitely recommend staying here!
The hotel takes up its own block but the entrance facing away from the sea is boarded. The closed entrance has a beautiful grand staircase that is disused as there isn't a reason for anyone to use it. The working entrance faces a large public park that spans to the end of the boulevard and is quite pretty. The hotel is clean and well kept but old with a musty moldy smell throughout the building. They use mechanical keys which is outdated but also quaint. They advertise bedrooms with 3 beds. The beds are a nice standard size but they will provide a maximum of 2 keys which is annoying when they advertised that the room is for 3 people. However, they did provide 3 of everything in the room and gave away some free amenities like hair brushes, tooth brushes and disposable fuzzy slippers. The staff are very polite but the concierge is a little curt. Not enough to be outright rude but there were a few occasions when they spoke to each other in Japanese saying comments that they wouldn't have said if they knew we could understand them.
