Cozy room with great view outside. You can see the small river outside and cherry blossom trees in spring !
The hotel was generally okay. The bed in the room was on the firm side, which may not be comfortable for everyone. Upon check-in, the front desk noticed that we had been overcharged and proactively issued a refund — very responsible and appreciated. However, I had an unpleasant experience during breakfast. I entered the restaurant wearing slippers, not knowing that this was against the rules in Japan. After being informed by the staff, I apologized and was ready to go back to change. Despite this, the staff member continued to lecture me in a way that felt excessive and made me feel blamed, which affected my overall impression.
Everything about the hotel is so-so. It is a very old hotel despite being called "New". I guessed it was new in the 1970s? Because it is old, there is this old furniture/hotel smell to it. It is not very bad after you get used to it. Staff are just okay. Standard polite and kindness of Japanese staff. When check in, helps you with your luggage but when check out, do not help you with your luggage despite being free. Location is so-so. Not besides any malls or anything except the castle park.
